The Ramsay Family
...has its beginnings in Soquel, CA, July of 1993. Charles Rufus Ramsay III was performing at an open mike which was
run by friends of Rebecca and which her brothers
participated in. Running away from a divorce with his band in Texas,
Charles was experimenting with solo performing. He had the audience
in the palm of his hand until Rebecca rudely entered with her
brother and started loudly socializing, oblivious to the masterpiece
her future husband was presenting the audience. Charles decided the
most appropriate punishment for her behavior was to spend the rest
of his life with her.
Actually, Rebecca was convinced that this was their fate before
Charles was, so in a desparate attempt to free herself she ran off to
Alaska to work in the fish canneries for the summer of 1994. Alaska
was not far enough. Charles followed her [she paid for my entire
trip -c ;->], hounded her by working side by side with her, and
finally convinced her escape was futile in October when he proposed
and she accepted.
They were married January 8, 1994 before family, friends, and a
bagpiper who led the guests to a seaside toast to the ill-fated
couple. They spent their honeymoon with friends in LA where their
car died a tragic death. They went to a taping of "Seinfeld" in
hopes of finding the humor in their situation. They drove on to
Texas in a rental car stopping at the Grand Canyon and visiting
Rebecca's Grandmother in Arizona. In Texas the couple was given a
lovely reception where all offered their condolences.
Charles finished his Master's Degree while Rebecca worked with
abused boys with behavior problems. This prepared her for the birth
of their daughter, Laura Beth Ramsay, on August 10, 1996 after
Charles had accepted a position at Lockheed and the couple had moved
to Colorado. When Laura Beth was born she was wide-eyed and looked
quite surprised. She didn't cry, just looked around taking it all
in.
In time for the birth of Charley Rufus Ramsay on January 23, 1998
they moved to Soquel, CA where they lived with Rebecca's parents for
a year and Charles commuted to Palo Alto. Charley was 10 lbs. 12 oz
and his doctor kept laughing that he had never taken care of a
newborn toddler before.
Easter of 1998 Charles converted to Catholicism at a profound
Easter Vigil which was greatly celebrated by all the angels and
saints in heaven.
Charles then accepted a position in Texas at Austin Info Systems,
and in October of 1999 the family moved to Austin, Texas, where they
currently reside.
On June 15, 2000, we were blessed with Theresa Marie. On August 2, 2002, we received the blessing of Clara Rose. And most recently, on May 18, 2004, we were blessed with Isabella Shalom.
